The Shelbyville Daily Democrat Wednesday, September 20, 1905 Page 1 -------------- Invitations are out announcing the wedding of Mr. Harry Moberly of Union township, and Miss Mildred Major of Shelby township. The wedding will occur at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William A. Major, on Thursday evening, October the fifth, at eight o'clock. After the wedding the bride and groom will go to Ohio on a short trip. The young couple will reside on a farm in Washington township and will carry to their new home the best wishes of a large circle of friends for a long and happy married life. The Shelbyville Daily Democrat Thursday November 18, 1926 ------------ MOBERLY DIVORCE GRANTED ------------ Custody of Older Son to Mother and Younger Son to Father ------------ Mrs. Mildred M. Moberly, of this city, has been granted a divorce from Harry Moberly in the Shelby circuit court. Hearing on the complaint filed by Mrs. Moberly was held Wednesday afternoon and the decree was issued on evidence that was introduced. The custody of Major Moberly, 18 years old, is awarded to Mrs. Moberly, and that of Warren Charles Moberly, 10 years old, is given to Mr. Moberly. Ruling is made that the younger son is to spend one night and one day of each week and a reasonable part of the summer school vacation with his mother, the plaintiff. Mrs. Moberly was represented in the action by Herbert C. Jones, attorney. The counsel for Mr. Moberly was George H. Meiks and McDaniel Myers. Contributed by Barb Huff

THE SHELBYVILLE REPUBLICAN Monday, January 15, 1940 ILLNESS FATAL TO W. W. MAJOR, COUNTY NATIVE Former Local Newspaperman Who Gained Prominence in Journalism Dies in Illinois ------- William Wallace Major, age 51, prominent newspaper man and former resident of this city, died at 1:30 o'clock Sunday morning at the Edward Hines Jr., Memorial hospital in Broadview, Ill., near Chicago. Mr. Major had been a patient at the hospital for the past year. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William A. Major, he was born in Washington township on May 22, 1887. He attended the Shelbyville high school and Indiana university. Mr. Major served one year as a lieutenant in the U. S. Army and sawaction in France during the World War. He began his journalistic career as a reporter on the Shelbyville Democrat. He had worked on newspapers in Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Chicago and in the states of Iowa and Texas. Before he become ill he was city editor of the Chicago Times, which position he had held for several years. He also had a number of articles published in various newspapers and magazines throughout the country. On August 5, 1913, he was married to Miss Adele Lammereaude, who survives with two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Joseph N. Kirk, of this city; Miss Ethel Major, of Chicago, and Arthur C. Major, of Denver Col. Several other relativesalso survive. Mr. Major was a member of the First Presbyterian church of this city and Victory Post No. 70, American Legion. The body will arrive here from Chicago at 2:19 p.m. today and will be taken to the Morris H. Sleeth funeral home, where friends may call after 7:00 o'clock this evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday monring with Dr. C. A. Bowler, pastor of the First Presbyterian church officiating.
