Note: Some show POD as Missouri City, Fort Bend Co, Texas, USA in NOV 1850. This city is now a southern suburb of Houston. It seems strange to have her enumerated in Bates Co, Missouri in NOV 1850 and just days later have her die hundreds of miles away. We have no information on any move. We think it more likely that she died in Missouri City, Clay Co, Missouri (Missouri City was originally named Atchison and formally adopted the name by the end of 1857).

OBITUARY: Boonville, Indiana Enquirer - May 8, 1886: Died, on the 5th inst., at the residence of Mr. Charles Koegel, James Coe, of consumption, aged about 55 years. Mr. Coe has been a sufferer of this dread disease for quite a number of years, being unable to be about part of the time. He leaves eight orphans (his wife having preceded him several years ago) and a large number of relatives to mourn his loss. Burial at Union graveyard Thursday near Newburg. Saturday, May 15, 1886 Mrs. Wagstaff, of Arcola, Florida, and her 2 children, arrived in Boonville, Monday in response to the announcing fatal illness of her father, Mr. James Coe, but too late to see him alive, or attend the funeral.
Note: Although the paper reads 05 MAY, the Warrick county death records provide a date of 04 MAY 1886, which we have used here.
Burial May 6, 1886 (2 days after death)
